How To Get Ripped Fast

If you want to get ripped fast, you will need to understand what muscles are made of and how they get bigger ! Muscle is the tissue of the body which primarily functions as a source of power. Muscles grow when muscle fibres are damaged and repair themselves following a workout. Muscles will only grow in size when they have fully recovered from the gym workout, then, and only then will muscle growth happen. Muscles need time to heal, once a week for directly hitting a muscle is fine. Muscular development can only happen in the presence of ample amino acids and the only source for amino acids is dietary protein. Protein is not just meat and there are many sources of protein but carbohydrates give the body energy to deal with the rigors of training and recovery.

Super Bowl Food- Football Food

Here is a great Super bowl recipe for the game on Feb 3.

ITALIAN BEEF AND BEAN STEW

Nutritional analysis per serving: 409 calories, 38 g protein, 41 g carbohydrate, 10 g fat, 73 mg cholesterol, 11 g fiber, 795 mg sodium.

1 (12- to 14-ounce) package dried bean soup mix with seasoning packet

2 pounds beef for stew, cut into 1-inch pieces

1 (14- to 14 1/2-ounce) can ready-to-serve beef broth

1 cup water

1/2 cup sun-dried tomato pesto sauce or spread

Salt and pepper, to taste

Yields 6 servings.

Cover beans from bean soup mix with water in large bowl. Cover bowl and soak beans overnight in refrigerator. Reserve seasoning packet.

Drain beans; rinse and pick over to remove any grit or shriveled and broken beans. Place beans, beef, broth, water and contents of seasoning packet in 4 1/2- to 5 1/2-quart slow cooker. Cover and cook on high for 5 to 6 hours or on low for 6 to 7 hours, or until beans are tender and beef is fork-tender. (No stirring is necessary during cooking.)

Stir in pesto; mix well. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Serve topped with additional pesto, if desired.

Note: For best results, do not lift the slow-cooker lid. Every peek allows heat to escape and adds 15 to 20 minutes to cooking time.

Big Bulky Muscles Are OUT!

By Rusty Moore

The Leading Man in Hollywood is Now Slim and Toned, Not Bulky!

Do you remember back in the mid-80's when Terminator, Predator, and Conan came out? Well, Arnold redefined what Hollywood's action star looked like. He was massively muscular and impressive looking. So impressive in fact, he spurred on an entire generation of guys who wanted to gain as much muscle as possible. He actually helped bodybuilding become mainstream for a short period of time. That was a short period of time as far as the general population is concerned, so why is the fitness industry focusing on the 80's look?

Massive Muscles Were Cool in 1985, But Cheesy in 1995

Women like guys who look great in a suit, jeans, with or without their clothes on. Massively muscular guys simply don't do anything for most women. Soap operas are popular with women, because they fulfill their fantasies. Women love the type of looks you see in soap operas. Even in the 80's when Arnold ruled, women preferred the lean and slimmer guys with decent muscle definition over the excessive muscle look.

I Believe That Fight Club Was The Movie That Changed Everything

For years during the big muscle era, women kept trying to tell guys that they were more interested in muscle definition and not into the bodybuilder look. Guys didn't really listen until 1999, when Fight Club came out. Brad Pitt finally showed the masses of guys out there that being ultra-lean with a normal build is more bad-ass looking than being huge and bulky. Brad's character, Tyler Durden, was able to get a hip and funky look, but had amazing muscle definition when he took his shirt off. This is a winning combination with the ladies and all actors are now striving for this look.

Actors Have Slimmed Down in Record Numbers Since 1999

Have you followed the career of Will Smith. He went from skinny, to very muscular for a few of his roles. For the movie I am Legend, Will Smith has slimmed down considerably. He now looks better than ever and I doubt he will ever go for that bulky look again. What about Johnny Depp? He actually got somewhat bulky back in the days of 21 Jump Street. After that was over he slimmed down substantially and women now find him one of the sexiest men in Hollywood. Can you imagine him in Pirates of the Caribbean the size of Arnold Schwarzenegger? He would look stupid!

Are You Stuck In The Late 80's and Trying To Get Massive?

Being big and massive is a great way to impress guys in the gym, but won't get you far with women. There is simply a cheesiness factor once you get too big. You can't really achieve a hip look and clothes don't fit well. Ever see a professional football player or professional wrestler in a suit? They look stupid. If you want to be more attractive to the opposite sex, then you may reconsider your goal of getting big muscles. Opt for the lean athletic look instead.

WII Sports Is Not A Great Fat Burner

PARENTS are fooling themselves if they hope Nintendo's Wii, which uses a wireless handheld controller to replicate athletic movement, will stop their youngster becoming obese, a study says.

Researchers in sport science at Liverpool John Moores University in northwestern England recruited six boys and five girls aged 13-15 years and fitted them with a monitoring device to calculate energy expenditure.

The teens played four games for 15 minutes.

One of the four games was Project Gotham Racing 3, played on Microsoft's more sedentary Xbox 360.

The three other games were bowling, tennis and boxing in Wii Sports, with a five-minute rest between sports.

In all, the children played on the consoles for one hour.

Energy expenditure using Wii was "significantly greater" — 51 per cent — than on the Xbox, the scientists found.

But this figure alone is misleading, as the total number of extra energy units burned using Wii amounted to only 60 calories per hour, or about a quarter of a Mars bar.

"In a typical week of computer play for these participants, active gaming rather than passive gaming would increase total energy expenditure by less than two per cent," says the study.

Even though the amount is "trivial," it might still make a contribution to weight management, the study admits.

And it says, a game that prompts a teenager to practise basic motor control and fundamental movement skills is a plus.

"Given the current prevalence of childhood overweight and obesity, such positive behaviours should be encouraged," it says.

Even so, nothing is a substitute for getting out of the home and doing sport itself.

"The energy used when playing Wii Sports games was not of high enough intensity to contribute towards the recommended daily amount of exercise in children," say the authors.

The study is released on Friday by the weekly British Medical Journal, which carries it in its Saturday edition.

Lose 21 Pounds In 21 Days!

21 Pounds in 21 Days

Great detox weight loss program. Detox diets are making news as the quickest, easiest way to shed pounds, boost your energy, and get yourself on a wellness track. Popular in the 1970s, cleansing fasts are again all the rage among celebrities like Gisele Bundchen, Gwyneth Paltrow, Stella McCartney, and Madonna.

One of the key advocates of the health benefits of cleansing detoxes is Roni DeLuz, ND, a licensed naturopathic and health practitioner at Martha's Vineyard Holistic Retreat, part of the renowned Martha's Vineyard Inn. The idea behind DeLuz's new detox plan is the belief that the foods we eat (along with the coffee, tea, and alcohol we drink and the air we breathe) contain harmful and toxic substances that accumulate in our bodies and need to be removed in some way. In 21 Pounds in 21 Days, DeLuz offers three different detox programs, including the original and most effective 21-day "MasterFast," which promises a 21-pound weight loss in just three weeks and focuses on detoxification through antioxidants, fasting, stress reduction, and lifestyle changes
